The gift of Art… timeless, thoughtful and cherished

Let’s get started on a custom portrait of your home, a pet, a person or a landscape.

A portrait is a very personal reflection of you. Whether it is your home, your pet, someone close in your life or a place that has special meaning to you. A custom portrait involves personal choices as well, from what is included in the portrait, to the colors we choose to highlight the subject matter. Creating artwork is a fun, collaborative process.

Many of the portraits created are personal mementos: A family home, a cherished pet, a beloved family member or a remembered vacation. These creations are not only just for you but can be given as a birthday or anniversary gift, a moving-away remembrance, or a Christmas gift. Thank-yous from real estate agents and property owners add to the mix.

Currently working from my studio in the Detroit area, I bring more than 40 years of experience to my craft and take pride in bringing that history to my work -technically, professionally and creatively.

Where to Start?

  • Call me at the store, 313-881-6305 or send me an email,,  with a basic photo of your subject matter. If the home, person, pet or building is in the Detroit area, I can personally take photos.  This will allow me to see the subject and get a good idea of what will be involved in the process of creating your custom illustration. We can talk about pricing, final art size, color options…and any other questions you might have.
  • Based on the photos and our conversation, I’ll get back to you with a quote and turnaround time for your custom illustration. In general, this could be 1 – 2 weeks for a first viewing. Any necessary alterations can be done after your first viewing. At that point, we can talk about the delivery date for the final artwork.

Questions you may have:

  • All home portraits are rendered in pen and ink, with an optional watercolor wash.
  • All pet, people or landscapes are rendered in oil paint.
  • The image of an average of all portraits will measure about 11” x 14”. Working any smaller will compromise details. Finished sizes can vary with the shape and style of the home or with your preferences.
  • Every piece of artwork is unique, executed especially for you.
  • Pricing starts at $250.00 for home portraits and $400.00 for oil paintings
